Overview
The tour usually starts with a morning pickup from your hotel in Cairo or Giza, followed by a scenic drive to Fayoum, which is located about 100 kilometers southwest of Cairo.
Once in Fayoum, you will visit the Qarun Lake, the largest saltwater lake in Egypt and a popular spot for birdwatching. You will also explore the nearby Wadi El-Rayan, a protected area that consists of two lakes connected by a waterfall, as well as the ruins of the ancient city of Karanis.
Afterward, you will head to Wadi Al Hitan, also known as the Whale Valley, which is located about 40 kilometers from Fayoum. Wadi Al Hitan is a UNESCO World Heritage site that contains numerous well-preserved fossils of ancient whales and other marine creatures that lived more than 40 million years ago.
You will have the opportunity to explore the site with a knowledgeable guide who will provide you with information about the history and geology of the area. You will see the various fossils of ancient whales and other marine creatures, some of which are displayed in their original position.
